Illuminate Leadership Conference FAQs

What differentiates The ILC from other youth conferences?

The Illuminate Leadership Conference is a 6 day adventure for students. Most conferences are a one day experience where youth attend workshops, take notes passively, and return home. The ILC is an active and experiential learning opportunity. Students will stay overnight in a dormitory, participate in interactive workshops, as well as interact with top leaders in various industries. This will be a conference that students do not want to miss.

What age is invited to attend?

There is no specific age requirement for the Illuminate Leadership Conference. The requirements are students must be in good academic and social standing, and students are current or rising 7th and 8th grade students.

What is included in tuition? Is there a payment plan option?

The Illuminate Leadership Conference is an all inclusive experience. Tuition cost includes housing at Northern Kentucky University, buffet style meals while on campus, lunches during excursions, conference materials, as well as private transportation to and from our excursions. Tuition does not include snacks, souvenirs or incidentals.

The Illuminate Leadership Conference is all about inclusivity. After the initial deposit to secure a student's place, we offer a monthly payment arrangement that extends until July for those in need.

Students are staying on a college campus, is it safe?

The Illuminate Leadership Conference has partnered with Northern Kentucky University (NKU) to ensure that our students have a fun and safe environment. All students will be supervised at a ratio of 17 : 1. During the day, students will be monitored by their classroom facilitator and one of our trusted counselors. Once students have transitioned to their residence hall, they have a curfew and halls will be monitored throughout the night by our counseling staff and NKU secure staff members. Students' safety is one of our highest priorities.

Where will students be staying?

Illuminate Leadership Conference participant will be housed at Northern Kentucky University’s secure dormitories. Each student will be paired with a roommate of the same gender. Each student will have their own double sized bed. Students will be housed in suites that hold 4 students. Each room has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a small lounge and kitchenette. All rooms have HVAC systems. We will provide students with sheets, pillow shams, and two blankets. Students are welcome to bring additional blankets and snacks for their room.

Do you provide students with transportation to the program?

Illuminate Leadership Conference accepts students from across the country. We do not provide transportation for students. However, our staff will be happy to assist you with your accommodations before and during the conference. Northern Kentucky University is just a short drive to the Cincinnati International Airport (CVG) and hotels are within a short drive to the University.
